Business Consultancy Services

Abbey Medical provides Business Consultancy Services direct to General Practitioners and General Practices on a one to one basis.

These services are provided by Mr. Barry O’Brien, General Manager and Partner in Abbey House Medical Centre.

Barry spent nearly 10 years working in the pharmaceutical industry before establishing a private business consultancy in 2004. In 2005 he joined Abbey House Medical Centre to assist in the continued growth, business development and day to day management of the organisation. Barry subsequently accepted the invitation to become a partner within the organisation shortly afterwards and currently provides business consultancy services to many General Practices throughout Ireland.

In addition to the day to day overall management of the Abbey Medical business interests, Barry jointly manages and lectures in the Irish College of General Practitioners’ Diploma in Management in Practice and Certificate in Management in Practice courses. Barry is also a regular business speaker at General Practice meetings and conferences throughout Ireland and a business columnist for the Irish medical publications.

The business consultancy services provided to General Practitioners cover a wide range of non clinical management areas. Relying on his extensive experience in the multinational healthcare industry and his experience in managing one of Irelands largest general practices Barry is in an ideal position to provide, practical, ‘real world’ solutions to the everyday management problems that can be experienced by many general practices. These services can be provided to all varieties of General Practices ranging from solo practitioners to multi partner large medical centres.

Business consultancy fees:
All fees are charged to clients on either an hourly basis or agreed monthly retainer, depending on the level of services required. Estimates are provided in advance to all clients. Consulting/management services can range in scope from 1 – 2 hours advice, to full scale long term projects depending on each client’s requirements.
